Welcome!

Back in early 2006, I got a new computer. When I ordered the parts to make the new computer, as an impulse, I threw Sims2 onto the order list. I had played the original Sims a few years before and figured it would be a momentary diversion while I tested out the graphics on my new beast.

Well, I was right about one thing. It was definitely a diversion, but it certainly wasn't momentary!

I found I had a passion for the game, both in playing it, and using it as a storytelling tool. In the four years I've been playing the game, I've spent much of my free time playing this game, writing stories inspired by the characters in game, and sharing the results of what I've done with the fantastic community of people that also play the game.

This site is the home for all the stories and other things I have done with this fantastic, engrossing, frustrating, and fun game. I hope you enjoy!

The Bad Romance of Archimedes Vetinari

In 2010, DocNerd, of the Vetinary Dualegacy was having a really crappy time for a variety of reasons, so a bunch of us decided to surprise her with some stuff to cheer her up. My contribution was this little story for Archie Vetinari, one of her more.. unique.. characters.

(This was a gift for Ndainye last year that I'm now offering up to everyone.)

When I did my recent cc clothing project, I discovered how very little there is in the way of formalwear for teen guys. Most of it is just shrunk down versions of adult outfits, which don't really cut it. I grew up with a younger brother and lots of guy cousins, so I remember how they liked to dress for formal occasions. Unless you forced them into a tux, they went for as little formal as possible.

These outfits are based on a Glamour Life Stuff outfit that could have easily been formal if two of the three recolors weren't in jeans. I played with the colors a bit and flagged them as formal (and everyday for those nerdy guys that need to dress up everyday).

Another area that pretty much everyone but adult females are lacking in is swimwear. It's kind of amazing how many bikinis are out there for the grown-up ladies, but how hard it is to find variety in swimwear for anyone else.

This is a Fantasy Rogue mesh and design that I really love, but there are only three colors. So, I figured, "Hey, I can do this!" so I added six more colors. Not quite Pooklet level of color variety, but it helps.

These are some of the older houses I had uploaded on the Exchange. They're all still there, but who knows how long the Exchange will actually be around, or even who goes there anymore.

My building style and requirements have evolved over the years, so there are some minor differences in these (like many of them being on larger lots or not having a hiding space built into the basement). Still, they should all be playable. One thing that has remained consistent is that I never include CC with the lots. These should all be clean.

DESIDERATA VALLEY

I actually got these done much quicker than expected. That's due in part to having some unexpected time off from work thanks to a bit of a cold, but also because I was really enjoying doing these.

As with the rest of the series, I wanted to capture the feel of the particular neighborhood I was focused on. Of them all, Desiderata is probably the most homogenous. It very much feels like a modern suburb. No one's really too far off the demographic, even if you factor in Natasha Una, the artist hippie or John Mole, the secret spy.

For these houses, I looked at contemporary designs for inspiration. With this type of house, there isn't too much history yet, but give it some time.

As with the previous group, here's the rundown:

  • All houses are on flat 3x3 lots
  • All houses are built for playability rather than just looks.
  • This series was built with all expansions and stuff packs.
  • Just Maxis, No CC was used (I despise downloading cc via lots).
  • Every house has a basement storage area for bat boxes, sim blenders, pose boxes, etc.
  • The two houses without attached garages do have space for a driveway
  • Houses are minimally decorated - enough to provide inspiration, but not enough to annoy.
  • All houses should be clean, but you should use clean installer anyway.

BELLADONNA COVE

It's been some time since I did much in the community, even though I've still been playing the game. While storytelling is still something I'm a little burnt out on, I still wanted to DO something. Recently, while messing around in a megahood, I was inspired to start this building project.

Each neighborhood has its own flavor and feel along with the unique sims and stories that populate them all. To me, each hood evokes a certain feel and I wanted to expand upon that with a series of houses inspired by each.

I really wanted to play with the mansard roofs that came with Mansion and Garden Stuff, so I began with Belladonna Cove. The neighborhood is designed with a variety of areas including an industrial or rundown section, but I tend to think of the richer families more. DeBateau, Rutherford, Cleveland, even the Cordial family all have an air of old money and style about them. I picture a refined, old neighborhood like you might see on the outskirts of Boston, where the money is only slightly older than the houses, but they keep up appearances.
  • All houses are on flat 3x3 lots

  • This series was built with all expansions and stuff packs.
  • Just Maxis, No CC was used (I despise downloading cc via lots).
  • Every house has a basement storage area for bat boxes, sim blenders, pose boxes, etc.
  • No driveways were placed, but each lot has room for one.
  • Houses are minimally decorated - enough to provide inspiration, but not enough to annoy.
  • All houses should be clean, but you should use clean installer anyway.

While some story details are mentioned in brief, there are no specifics and no spoilers other than seeing who had which children. Downloads are provided for each born-in-game sim, as well as some special sims that were created specifically for the Pseudo Legacy. The Pseudo Legacy

The majority of my storytelling efforts with Sims2 has been focused on the Pseudo Legacy. When I started, most legacies were done in a commentary style with a play-by-play run down on what was happening with the family. I was drawn more to the plotty stories and loved the serialized storytelling of comic books, so that's what my little legacy quickly became.

The Prologue
Where we learn why Taylor got his mission to found a legacy.
Chapter One
Where Taylor takes the first steps in the Legacina family's journey.
Chapter Two - Part One
Where Zoey and Victoria take on Sim State together.
Chapter Two - Part Two
Where Zoey picks up the legacy torch to carry on the family.
Chapter Two - Part Three
Where Zoey and Christian's marriage seems surely doomed.
Chapter Two - Part Four

Chapter Three - Part One
Where generation three deals with college and stalkers!
Chapter Three - Part Two
Where engagements, weddings, and chaos rule!
Chapter Three - Part Three
Where there are more weddings, babies, and now conspiracies!
Chapter Three - Part Four
Where there is lots of snow, more babies, and lots of meetings!
Chapter Three - Part Five
Where there are abductions, confusion, transplants and lots of cute kids!
Chapter Three - Part Six
Where there are children being raised and simselves being panicked!
Chapter Three - Part Seven
Where life goes on and chapter three starts to gear up for an ending!
Chapter Three - Part Eight
Where plotty bits happen and the chapter wraps up!

Awesomesauce Bachelor Challenge

The Awesomesauce Bachelor Challenge is an interlude of the Pseudo Legacy, following fourth generation spare, Miranda, in her search for friends.. er.. love.

Tales of Isla Lostundo

The very first custom neighborhood I made was Isla Lostundo. Without really understanding the rules for a Prosperity Challenge, I pretty much set my neighborhood up with that concept in mind. The first incarnation was lost to a VBT and blew up rather spectacularly. The second incarnation wasn't exactly lost, but I set it aside after character bloat and other problems. This story is based on a trimmed, third incarnation of the neighborhood.

The idea was to play without story in mind or posing, but still craft a story out of the events of the game. I only published one chapter, but I'd still like to continue it.

(This one is published blog style.)

Boolpropian Round Robin Legacy

The Boolpropian Round Robin Legacy (or BRRL) was a joint venture started by several members of the Boolprop forums. Each person was assigned a different Maxis hood to play their turn in. This was a heavily story based round robin legacy with each chapter adding to the mythos. My turn was in Veronaville for the fifth generation of the family. I highly recommend reading the whole thing (some awesome stuff by some amazing simmers).
